Kryptonite Security Rating System
Not all Kryptonite locks are created equal. Some offer greater security. Some offer greater convenience and ease of use, but are a bit less secure. To help you choose the right lock for your security needs, check the Security rating included in the product description.

The Kryptonite Security Rating System is a proprietary system that compares the security value of all Kryptonite locks. Based on a 1 through 12 rating system, the more points the lock earns, the more secure the lock is.
Kryptonite U-Locks and Chains are rated 8 through 12. Locks with an 11 rating offer you maximum security protection. For those times when you need the absolute ultimate security protection, look for Kryptonite locks with a 12 rating.
Kryptonite Cable Locks are rated 1 through 7. While cable locks are easy to use, they do not provide the same level of security that Kryptonite U-Locks and Chains offer. As with U-Locks, the higher the rating, the more deterrent security the lock will offer. When choosing a cable lock, always make sure your choice offers the amount appropriate amount of deterrent security.
If the lock has no security rating, remember that it will only offer a small amount of theft deterrence and should be used for a "quick, convenient" lock up for items of lesser value or as a secondary security device.
